My name is Denis Pilon. I am the owner and operator of Mountain Man Services Limited based in Lake Cowichan, B.C. Hello to all who read what I have to say about the laser treatment I received from Laser Centers for Health Nanaimo. The technician was attentive, informative, supportive, and an absolute delight from start to finish.
I started smoking cigarettes when I was 16 years old and a pack of smokes cost 75 cents. I said I would quit when they cost $5 a pack. That came and went. I said I would quit when they hit $10 a pack. I said I would quit at 45 years old, then at 50 years old. They all came and went into the past.
I am no stranger to addictions. I beat cocaine—21 years clean and counting. I beat hard alcohol—Crown Royal was my drink of choice, and now more than 18 years with not a sip. I still have a beer or two on occasion or a glass a wine, but it is not a need or a necessity.
BUT DO YOU THINK I COULD QUIT THIS GOVERNMENT-TAXED CRACK-IN-A-PACK? NOT A CHANCE. I tried cold turkey, the patch, gum, drinking a glass a water, watching the clock. You name it, I tried it. Always the cravings, always the whole physical to psychological addiction. I finally said, “I give up, I can’t quit.”
Then, my doctor informed me that at 56 years old I have aggressive COPD. I said, “Okay, let’s look at quitting one more time.”
So, I called Laser Centers for Health. They spent a good hour telling me what to expect, and what to do before, during, and after my treatment. I told them, “People, please. I smoked 2 to 2.5 packs of cigarettes a day, and Cuban cigars for the hell of it. There is no way, just like that, that I do not smoke and I would never smoke again. Just like that, snap of the fingers, done easy-peasy? There is no way this would work.”
I needed help. I needed to stop smoking. I was nervous. I was scared not to quit, but what if it did not work? Wasting money and my time just to fail again?
Well, believe it or not, but I will tell you it worked. No joke. I smoked all the way to the appointment. I had one in the parking lot, then went in to discover that I had arrived 30 minutes early, so went back out had a couple more smokes. Then went in and was given the treatment.
I came out, and even though I had two open packs and a carton in the console of my truck, I drove home with no cravings. Then I had a beer and dinner, and went to bed with no need or want for a cigarette.
Then I got up and started my day with the detoxing and oral supplement regiment, and started my day. It was amazing. No cravings, nothing. Like I had never smoked a day in my life.
Now, do not get me wrong. The brain is always thinking, and the little voice is there, but if you just think of something else it goes away.
The good news is, I stopped smoking for three months straight, then I made some mistakes. I allowed my crew to smoke in the truck while I was driving. “Just roll your windows down,” I said. “I good, I am three months, I'm solid.” I allowed people to smoke too close to me, so I was inhaling secondhand smoke. One day, I said, “What the hell.” I asked, and smoked a cigarette, and that was the beginning of my smoking again.
However, I quit at the wrong time. I was inactive for three months with no work, just sitting around all winter, bored, munching, and putting on a few pounds. And I allowed people to smoke in proximity to me.
BUT IT WORKS. IT REALLY, REALLY does. So today is March 4, 2020 and I am scheduled for re-treatment on May the 4, 2020. This time, I am confident that I will succeed. I will be able to go the rest of my life as a non-smoker. I know this, because I have had the experience of it working for three months, and now I am going to be able to do it for the rest of my life. Between the laser treatment, the support provided by Laser Centers for Health, my knowledge, and reinforcement from that support and experience, I will do it.
I was blind, but now I see. I was weak, but I will become strong. Please, please, if you are someone who smokes a little or a lot, you’ve got to do this. You have to make the attempt. It is amazing. And besides, what do you have to lose? The costs of cigarettes? The smell? The tastelessness? Your breath? Your life?
I am a strong advocate for this treatment to end smoking. I will be a non-smoker forever before my 57th birthday on May 13th. I will update all of you on my success, but do not just believe me. Go do it, then join me and the rest of the world of the non-smoking, not the addicted to THAT GOVERNMENT-TAXED CRACK IN A PACK.
With my regards and respect,
Denis Pilon
